Human Rights Watch criticizes Bill Ecuador Communications

osé Miguel Vivanco, Americas director of the organization, sent a letter to the President of the Assembly, Fernando Cordero, elaborating on several observations on the legal project to be discussed in the Legislature since September.

Human Rights Watch examined the document prepared by the Communication Commission of the Assembly. In their study cautioned that there are positive steps, such as “express prohibition of monopolies and oligopolies in the ownership of the means of communication and promotion of subtitles or sign language to allow equal access to people with hearing disabilities.”
